Indian sergeant who admitted fraud still on payroll

A member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe who admitted to taking part in an $88 million investment scam at an Indian bank is still on the payroll as a Maricopa County Sheriff's sergeant, The Arizona Republic reports.

Leo Driving Hawk Sr. pleaded guilty to a felony involving a scam at the United States Reservation Bank and Trust. The bank was founded by his father Edward Driving Hawk Sr.

Despite Leo Driving Hawk's guilty plea, he is still drawing a $60,000 annual salary as sergeant. A sheriff's official says he can't be fired until the conviction and an internal report are finalized. Driving Hawk is set to be sentenced in April 2006.
