A four-year-old Navajo boy from Arizona is headed go the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota to undergo surgery and treatment for cancer.
Brayden Ahasteen was diagnosed with metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma, a form of cancer, in August 2004. He has been receiving radiation treatment at the University of New Mexico Children's Hospital but doctors said he wasn't getting any better.
That prompted his family to seek a second opinion. After flying to Minnesota, doctors at the Mayo said Brayden needed immediate surgery and more radiation.
The family will be in Minnesota for 10 to 12 weeks. Donations, in the form of a check or money order, to help with medical-related expenses can be sent to Sharon Joe, P.O. Box 1463, Chinle, Arizona, 86503.
