The Puyallup Tribe of Washington is taking public comments on its water quality standards for the Puyallup River.
The tribe is updating the standards it has used since 1994. The tribe has a treatment as state designation under the Clean Water Act, The Tacoma News-Tribune reported.
The standards are stricter than state ones because the tribe depends on fish from the river.
That has some local officials concerned because they will have to ensure they meet the requirements.
