Seminole Tribe, town agree on law enforcement

The Seminole Tribe and the town of Davie, Florida, have come to an agreement on law enforcement.

Police officers in Davie will now be allowed to make "hot pursuit" arrests on Seminole land. The Seminole Tribe will be able to do the same for people who commit crimes on the reservation and flee to Davie. Tribal and town officers will also be able preserve traffic accident scenes and detain criminal traffic offenders

Under Public Law 280, the state of Florida has jurisdiction over crimes that occur on Indian lands.
