The first ever Intertribal Hand Game Tournament will be held during the 19th annual He Sapa Wacipi Black Hills Pow Wow this weekend.
The tournament takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in Rapid City. Teams will compete for over $2,000 in cash prizes.
Siblings Philomine Lakota and Wilmer Mesteth, members of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, have been organizing the games. Lakota doesn't want to brag but she tells The Rapid City Journal that she and her brother are "really good" players.
