Cynthia Yerby, a Seminole/Creek woman from Oklahoma, is headed to the World Armwrestling Federation (WAF) world championship after winning a series of national titles.
Yerby will be competing on Team USA. She qualified this year by garnering three national titles and one silver medal. Her many honors include being named the New York "Queen of Arms" for the sixth year in a row.
An academic counselor at Seminole State College, Yerby spend her weekends competing in armwrestling tournaments. Throughout her 15-year career, she has won ten gold, seven silver and five bronze medals plus 19 state and other titles in the U.S.
This year's world championship takes place in Tokyo, Japan, from November 27 through December 5. Yerby, who has been to six world prior tournaments, is seeking corporate sponsorship.
