High school debates 'Dancing Warrior' mascot

Parents and residents in Canton, Connecticut, are divided over the high school's "Dancing Warrior' mascot. Over the objections of principal Gary Gula, who says it is in appropriate to use Indian imagery, the school board voted to keep the mascot. But the board sought a redesign of the "dancing" Indian mascot. The artist came back with a "dancing" Indian but left out the tomahawk, the sneer and the headdress. But school board members are seeking yet another redesign amid concerns that the mascot is offensive to Native Americans. Get the Story:
