The governor of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma is facing a recall only seven weeks after being elected.
Tribal members accuse Gov. Larry Nuckolls of running the tribe into the ground. Since taking office in June, they say he went on a firing spree, leading to the loss of 70 jobs. They say he is shutting down critical health and education programs even as his own office's budget has doubled.
Nuckolls has said the charges against him have no merit and are politically motivated.
