Crow tribal members challenge permit for power plant

Three members of the Crow Tribe are protesting an air-quality permit issued to a coal-fired power plant.

Since the plant is within a mile of the Crow Reservation, the tribal members are worried that pollutants will affect land, water quality, fisheries, wildlife and human health. They want a full hearing before the plant begins operations.

The state of Montana issued a permit that relaxed limits on mercury emissions while tightening restrictions on other pollutants.
