The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of North Dakota pressed Indian Health Service Director Dr. Charles Grim to build the health facility the tribe was promised 05 years ago.
The federal government destroyed the tribe's hospital in Elbowoods with the creation of the Garrison Dam in the 1950s. But even though President Bush signed into law a bill to authorize a replacement clinic, Grim said it might be a while before one is built.
Grim made his comments during a visit to the Fort Berthold Reservation on Tuesday. He is continuing his tour today.
