Yakama Nation finds few huckleberries to pick

Members of the Yakama Nation of Washington say commercial pickers are taking all of the huckleberry harvest.

The tribe has a treaty right to harvest the berries. But commercial pickers have been ignoring the start of the harvest date set by the U.S. Forest Service, tribal members say.

The berries grow on the Yakama Reservation and in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Tribal members say this year's supply was especially low.
