Carly Montroy is the first member of the Oneida Nation to graduate from Manlius Pebble Hill School, a private school in DeWitt, New York.

Montroy, 18, talked with The Syracuse Post-Standard about her future plans. She will attend St. Bonaventure University where her goal is to major in journalism and "to work at NBC or CNN or a national recording company."

She said she is proud of her Oneida heritage and she wants to focus on Native issues. "I plan to report or help Native American kids, and (on) how progress is being made every day," she says.

Her favorite food is "mom's spaghetti and meatballs" but she hates peas.
