Lakota Express, an Indian- and woman-owned small business, is bringing jobs and opportunities to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
Lakota Express has eight full-time employees and has trained 120 part-time employees. They receive as much as $12 an hour for their work.
The firm has a partnership with a Chinese company called USE Limited to work on data validation, data entry and other information technology projects. Other ventures could include the export of buffalo meat.
Ho-Chunk Inc., the economic development corporation of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska, has invested in Lakota Express. Ho-Chunk Inc. also owns Indianz.Com and its sister e-commerce site, AllNative.Com.
