United Native Nations announces election

The United Native Nations, the largest Native organization in British Columbia, held elections during its recent annual meeting.

Lillian George was elected president. She previously served as UNN vice president.

David Dennis, an outspoken activist who was arrested at gunpoint last month by the RCMP, was elected vice-president. He a chief and former chair of the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council.

UNN represents the interests of nearly 93,000 Natives in British Columbia who live off-reserve.
