The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council is endorsing a proposal for a cultural and educational center and children's museum in Wausau, Wisconsin.
The council, which represents 10 tribes in Wisconsin and upper Michigan, would create and operate the center. The tribes hope to lease a building in downtown Wausau for the project.
Former Mayor Linda Lawrence and Mark Craig, general manager of a development company, will join the tribes today to announce details.
