Seven young Metis who are paddling 2,300 kilometers (about 1400 miles) across Canada have been forced to skip a part of their journey due to weather.

The M�tis Nation Canoe Expedition left Ontario in June. They are spending eight weeks paddling across Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan in order to arrive at the historic Batoche National Historic Site in Saskatchewan, a M�tis landmark.

The crew of six paddlers and one leader has so far witnessed a tornado, experienced storms and had their canoe overturn.
