Montana State University in Billings has received a $1.1 million grant from the Department of Education to train Indian teachers for schools on and near the Northern Cheyenne and Crow reservations.
The Teacher Education for All Montana program will select 15 students from Little Big Horn College or Dull Knife Memorial College to work on their teaching degrees at MSU-B.
They will receive scholarships and other services under the grant.
So far, the Big Horn Teacher Projects has trained 39 students. Most are teaching or in related fields on the two reservations.
