Group seeks to preserve old Indian boarding school

The Gage County Heritage Preservation in Nebraska is holding a picnic on Saturday to raise money to preserve an old Indian boarding school.

The "Otoe Missouria Indian Mission School was located on the former Big Blue River Reservation. The reservation was established in 1854 for the Otoe and Missouri tribes, who were later removed to Oklahoma.

The school was later used as a farmhouse. The preservation group wants to restore it to reflect both uses.
