Group helps tribal members obtain legal services

The group has six offices in South Dakota and one office in North Dakota. Lawyers help people like Jessica Hinsley, who had a custody fight with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe but didn't know where to turn for legal advice and representation.

Dakota Plains is expanding its mission thanks to a $50,000 grant from the American College of Trial Lawyers. The grant will Indians who need legal aid to find information on the Internet. An estimated 55,000 tribal members could benefit.
