A delegation of Navajo Nation officials took part in the annual Rolling Thunder Ride to Washington, D.C., to call attention to the needs of veterans.
Navajo Nation Vice President Frank Dayish and several Navajo Nation Council delegates joined
the 2,500-mile cross-country ride in Window Rock, Arizona. It took them two days to reach the Washington, where Memorial Day events were held over the weekend.
Delegate LoRenzo Bates, who is not a veteran, said the experience was very emotional. He said it gave him a better understanding of the problems Native veterans face. He hope his participation will help the tribe better advocates for its veterans.
