The state of Washington and the Stillaguamish Tribe are near an agreement over the handling of ancestral remains at a state construction site, The Seattle Times reports.
The agreement would call for the removal of all remains at the site where an adult male, adult female and child have already been discovered. Further archaeological studies would also be conducted.
The $1 million Highway 530 project is on hold until the agreement is finalized. The site is near an old Stillaguamish village.
