Appeals court dismisses Cheney task force suit

A full panel of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday dismissed a lawsuit seeking information about Vice President Dick Cheney's national energy policy task force.

In a unanimous 8-0 decision, the court said two public interest groups had no enforceable right to seek information about the panel's contacts with the energy industry. The industry representatives had no vote and only played an advisory role in developing the energy policy, the court said.

The policy was released in May 2001 and contained a few recommendations about energy development in Indian Country.
