Powwow caps off Indian Awareness Week

The 23rd annual Lakota Omniciye Wacipi will be held this weekend at Black Hills State University in South Dakota.

The powwow, which runs Friday through Sunday, caps off Indian Awareness Week at the university. Native students have organized a series of lectures and presentations to educate the community about tribal culture.

BHSU has the highest proportion of Native students enrolled of any South Dakota Board of Regents institution. Nearly 130 Natives attend classes at the school.
