Five Oklahoma tribes passed a resolution on Thursday to nominate the old Chilocco Indian School on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Otoe-Missouria, Ponca, Pawnee, Kaw and Tonkawa tribes hope to preserve the historic buildings at Chilocco. The campus have been vacant since 2001 although proposals for a museum, cultural center and a casino have been suggested.
The campus has been included on the list of most endangered historic properties by Preservation Oklahoma.
