Four people were declared the first-ever "Aboriginal Icons" on Wednesday night after a nationwide talent competition in Canada.
The four winners will receive $45,000 (Canadian) in recording and management contracts, voice and performance coaching and marketing support to boost their careers.
The winners were Wayne Jackson in the over 36 age group, Gerald Sowano in the 21-35 group,
Hayley Macdonald in the 13-20 group and Darrelyne Bickel in the 6-12 group.
The contest will become a yearly event.
