Three Native women honored for their achievements


Three Native women were among the six honorees at the 21st annual Women of Excellence recognition banquet in Sioux City, Iowa.

Marilyn Charging of Vermillion, South Dakota, was recognized in the category of Women Pursuing Truth for her role in promoting diversity in the Sioux City School District. She is a member of the Three Affiliated Tribes of North Dakota.

Connie Bear King of Sioux City was recognized in the category of Women Taking Risks for her advocacy on Indian child welfare. She is a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.

Sarah Berridge of Winnebago, Nebraska, was recognized in the category of Women Helping Women for her service to the Native community. She is a member of the Winnebago Tribe.
