The Cowlitz Tribe is offering to build a NASCAR track in southern Washington.
Tribal officials met with International Speedway Corp. to discuss the idea. They hope the popularity of NASCAR events will provide an economic opportunity.
The tribe, newly recognized in 2000, is seeking to establish an initial reservation in south Cowlitz County.
