A doctoral student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln says the Peabody Museum at Yale University is in possession of dinosaur fossils taken from Sioux Nation territory without full tribal consent.

Lawrence Bradley, a descendant of Lakota Chief Red Cloud, is documenting the removal of fossils by Yale paleontologist O. C. Marsh. During the 1870s, Marsh led a series of expeditions to Sioux territory in Nebraska.

Bradley previously documented the removal of a dinosaur fossil from land that was once part of the Santee Sioux Reservation in Nebraska. He also suspects Princeton University has fossils taken from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
