The St. Labre Indian School and the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana exchanged five bison on Wednesday.
The goal of the transfer is to increase the genetic diversity of bison at the school and on the reservation. The five animals came from the school's herd.
The school has more than 200 bison, which are used for school meals. The tribe's herd includes about 150 animals.
