The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of North Dakota is in the process of revising its tribal constitution.

A committee has recommended a number of changes, including the creation of an executive branch and a judicial branch. The executive branch would include the tribal president, formerly the chairman, and a new tribal Legislature, formerly the council. It also calls for the separation of the tribe's business entity from tribal politics.

A draft should be ready by this summer and the committee will take public comments.
