The Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts is seeking further study on unmarked burial grounds believed to be located at the site of a proposed shopping center in Rhode Island.
The tribe asked the town of Tiverton and the state of Rhode Island to conduct an archaeological survey. The tribe says any work should be monitored by the Wampanoags and the
Narragansett Tribe, based in Rhode Island.
The developer of the mall says it will work with the tribe.
