Economic development and job training were the focus of the State of the Band address by Bois Forte Band Chairman Kevin Leecy.
Leecy said the tribe has acquired the WELY AM and FM radio station and a radio tower. The purchase requires Federal Communications Commission approval.
Leecy said the tribe will diversify its economy using gaming profits. To combat a 30 percent unemployment rate, the tribe will be hosting job training programs.
