A top Australian official's call to teach Aboriginal culture in schools is being called shallow by an Aboriginal leader.
Geoff Clark, chairman of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Commission, said the proposal whitewashes centuries of oppression. Aboriginal culture is already taught in most schools, he said.
Australia's Governor-General Maj-Gen Michael Jeffery suggested elders could be brought into devise a curriculum.
