Montana State University has started raising funds for an $8 million Native American Student Center on its Bozeman campus.
The university is looking for private donors but plans to ask the State Legislature to cover the building's operating and maintenance costs.
The state Board of Regents is being asked to support the center. The school is trying to attract more Native students in light of racism some say they face.
