Two California tribes donate $1M to tsunami effort


Two California tribes with casinos have donated $1 million aid the victims of the South Asian tsunami that has claimed the lives of more than 140,000 people in 11 countries.

The Rumsey Band of Wintun Indians and the United Auburn Indian Community made the donations to Save The Children and Habitat For Humanity International. The money will help provide shelter, food, medical care and other basic necessities for children and for replacement construction.

Separately, the National Indian Gaming Association is raising funds for the relief effort. Donations can be sent to:
