The Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California has received a $33,185 rebate check for using solar power, the first recipient of a program in Nevada that promotes renewable energy.
The tribe installed solar panels on the roof of a 2,800 square-foot office building. The panels generate seven and one-half kilowatts of power for office use.
The rebate check came from the Sierra Pacific Power Company, which participates in the state SolarGenerations program.
