Fond du Lac Band explores alternative energy

The Fond du Lac Ojibwe Band in Minnesota is working with the Department of Energy and a power company to discuss alternate sources of energy.

The tribe installed an anemometer to monitor wind speeds. The DOE will analyze the data to figure out how much energy might be produced.

Separately, the tribe is in talks with Minnesota Power about using water and wood to generate electricity. The tribe and the company have previously collaborated on a solar and wind power project.
