Wyoming governor warms to discussion over taxes

After first calling the proposal a "kind of blackmail," Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal (R) says he will discuss tax issues with the Northern Arapaho Tribe.

The tribe commissioned a study that showed it is not benefiting from state taxes collected on the reservation. The tribe has lost out on $81 million since 1979, the study said.

The taxes come from oil and gas development that occurs on the reservation. The tribe doesn't receive any of the revenues and wants Freudenthal to support legislation to change the situation.
