The American Indian Movement in Kansas is asking Otttawa University to discontinue its Braves mascot.
The mascot comes in two forms: a student in Indian dressed called "Giego" and an otter named Gibby. Giego is said to represent the "spirit" of the Ottawa Tribe while the otter is considered the tribe's sacred animal.
School officials say the mascot respects the tribe. But AIM activists say its offensive and are trying to organize a teach-in to discuss the issue.
