Navajo Nation President Joe Shirley Jr. congratulated President Bush on his re-election victory but said tribes still need to a seat at the table.
Shirley said the Bush administration has ignored tribes over the past four years. "Hopefully, [Bush] has heard the Native American message throughout the presidential campaign and will heed our call," Shirley said.
Shirley and the Navajo Nation council endorsed Sen. John Kerry (D-Massaschusetts) for president. Tribal leaders said Kerry would ensure tribes have a prominent voice in the White House.
