Tribes give to Free, Campbell, Kennedy, Daschle

The top recipients of tribal and "gaming" donations in this election cycle were Kalyn Free, Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colorado), Sen. Tom Daschle (D-South Dakota) and Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-Rhode Island), The Providence Journal reports.

The figures from the Center for Responsive Politics are deceptive in that non-Indian gaming companies are included. For example, Kennedy's $88,000 in includes nearly $20,000 from gaming companies.

Free, a Democrat, launched a failed bid to win her party's nomination for the seat being vacated by Rep. Brad Carson (D-Oklahoma). Campbell raised most of his money before he announced his retirement although he refused donations from the National Indian Gaming Association. He is using some of his leftover money to help President George W. Bush.
