A massive bill to provide up to $2 billion for reservation roads is up in the air with the adjournment of Congress for the election.

The bill would reauthorize highway programs for years. The Senate version provides $318 billion while the House version provides $284 billion.

The White House says it won't accept a bill above $256 billion. But Republican leaders have packed many "pet" project into the package.

The Indian Reservation Roads program is funded by a small portion of federal highway funds. Depending on the final bill, tribes could receive up to $1.9 billion through fiscal year 2008.
