The Soboba Band of Luiseo Indians held another election on Saturday but tribal officials said it wasn't a recall.
Nevertheless, two council members who had been elected in March were ousted by voters. Rosemary Morillo and Scott Cozart will replace Becky Salgado Flores and Maurice Mojado.
Chairman Robert Salgado, who had earlier said he would resign but changed his mind, was re-elected as chairman.
Tribal members had questioned whether the March election was properly conducted. The Bureau of Indian Affairs said it will recognize the results of the latest election.
