Voters on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota would be able to cast absentee ballots without having to leave the reservation under a plan up for consideration today.
Shannon County commissioners will decide whether to allow two satellite auditors' offices on the reservation. The offices could be in place in time for the upcoming election, in which Indian voters are being heavily courted.
Currently, reservation residents have to travel to another county to cast absentee ballots.
