Federal grant to help principal training program

The American Indian Leadership Program at Pennsylvania State University has received a $1 million federal grant to train Indian students who wish to become principals.

AILP director John W. Tippeconnic said the grant will fund a two-year program to prepare eight students to receive their master's degrees in educational leadership. Tippeconnic said there is a great need for Indian principals at Indian schools.

The grant was awarded by the Department of Education.
