Pueblo man didn't know Bush cutting housing funds

Arnold Reano of Santo Domingo Pueblo didn't know that President Bush is asking Congress to reduce funds for an Indian loan program that allowed his family to become homeowners.

Reano and his wife Debra appeared at a campaign rally for Bush on Wednesday. He tells The Albuquerque Journal that he would have asked the president about the proposed cut had he known about it.

At the rally in Albuquerque, Bush said that the Indian Home Loan Guarantee Program is "working." For the past four years, his administration has reduced or flat-line Indian housing funds but a campaign spokesperson said the number of Indian loans has doubled since Bush has been in office and that there is enough money to meet the need.
