The organization that runs the Native Academy in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has received a three-year $1 million grant from the Department of Education.
Migizi Communications will use the grant to promote math, science, technology and engineering for Indian high school students. The money will cover about one-third of the academy's operational budget each year.
The academy provides services and after-school programs for students at public schools.
Students who participate in the academy have improved attendance rates and test scores.
