The Eagle Staff Runners began their 300-mile journey from the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming to the Fort Hall Reservation in Idaho on Thursday.
About 60 runners, ranging in age from 7 to 18, are taking part. They are expected to complete the journey next Friday.
This year's run will promote healing.
