Tribal youth learn more about water at summer camp

Dozens of middle school students from the Rocky Boy's and Blackfeet reservations in Montana are attending the Native Waters Young Leaders Camp this week.

The five-day camp is designed to emphasize the importance of water from both a cultural and scientific perspective. The students will take part in different scientific activities to show how the environment is interconnected.

The camp is held for various tribal communities in the Missouri River Basin. Last month, youth from the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming attended. Another camp is planned for the Fort Belknap Reservation and for Nebraska tribes.

Native Waters is an outreach program based at Montana State University-Bozeman
