Members of the Passamaquoddy Tribe of Maine are opposed to plans to build a $300 million liquefied natural gas terminal on the reservation.
The group, We Take Care of Our Homeland, says the tribe and the company that wants to build the terminal have not provided members with enough information about the project.
The group is worried about the impact on the environment, particularly fish and clams.
The deal is expected to generate jobs and revenue for the tribe and tribal members. The tribe would get $4 million a year in lease payments and tribal members would get about $1,000 a year in cash payments.
